Ashiatsu

Japanese for Ashi= foot, Atsu=into pressure

I was first introduced to this modality in 1999 at The Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, CA.  I have since rounded out my studies with Shiatsu at Healing Spirits Massage Training Program in Boulder, CO.  This is barefoot (my feet on your body) compression massage that is able to address trigger points and connective tissue congestion.  Deeper pressure on muscles can be achieved if desired.  Pressure is customized for each person.  Benefits are reduced pain, improved flexibility, and reduced stress and anxiety levels.  This therapy is done clothed on a padded table on the floor, it can also be arranged in your home, or outside in nature (seasonally dependent).

    • Assisted stretching and compression to your body through my feet supplying pressure. I use a balance stick while you lay face up and face down, receiving.

    • During and after session, pain relief and deep relaxation.

    • My care, I will check in with you regarding pressure, the goal is for you to receive both benefit and comfort which is the sweet spot of receiving.

    • You may be sleepy, deeply relaxed post session. You may also experience detox which can show up as fatigue or an achy body. Drinking lots of water and having movement day after session helpful. It is a contribution to move any stagnation and congestive qualities through the body.
